S/4HANA Finance & the Future of the Financials Roadmap

S/4 Finance is a proof of concept effort conducted jointly by ExxonMobil and SAP. The goal of the PoC was to review the change management required to activate S/4 Finance, assess the business impacts and benefits of business process changes, evaluate the reporting scenarios between ERP and BW, and understand the future of the Financials Roadmap.

This project reviewed the mandatory change management required to activate S/4 Finance to determine their impact on existing processes. Further, it reviewed the enhanced functionality provided by the product and analyzed a limited number of relevant Fiori Apps.

The results showed greatly improved analytics, higher speed of transactions and reporting, and an enhanced user experience. Over 100 financial test cases successfully completed with no showstoppers identified.

Mosaic Treasury owned a workstation with limited functionality and inconsistent IT support.  As a result, we relied heavily on spreadsheets to communicate treasury activity to our internal customers.

S/4 Finance is a proof of concept effort conducted jointly by ExxonMobil and SAP. The goal of the PoC was to review the change management required to activate S/4 Finance, assess the business impacts and benefits of business process changes, evaluate the reporting scenarios between ERP and BW, and understand the future of the Financials Roadmap.

As the architect of a SAP add-on module built in SAP, upgrading to S4/HANA is very alluring. The functionality is heavily integrated to the legacy SAP Finance (FI) module, but S4/HANA makes a giant leap forward, and away from much of the historical SAP FI structure. I’ll take you through the considerations and challenges we faced, to take advantage of S4/HANA and obtain SAP certification of the add-on functionality.

While the benefits are numerous (it should be done!), this task is often overlooked as it can be time consuming and tedious. Through our implementation of BPC, we were able to Simplify and automate our planning process. We Implemented headcount and benefits planning based on drivers so the dollar amount is calculated automatically based on benefit % and no of heads.
