Cookies and Tracking

Our website uses a variety of technologies to collect information that helps us understand how our site is used. A cookie is a small file of letters and numbers that is stored on the hard drive of your computer. Cookies may expire at the end of a web session or persist in order to store your settings and preferences. A web beacon, also known as a pixel tag, is a tiny transparent image embedded in a webpage or an e-mail to measure usage and activity. In some cases, a web beacon triggers the placement of a persistent cookie on your computer.

Certain sections of our site require cookies to be enabled to support website performance and provide enhanced authentication. Web beacons and cookies allow us, directly or through our third-party service providers, to collect information used for website analytics, such as how many users have visited particular pages or downloaded documents on our website, or how frequently users search for a particular term on our website. However, our use of these cookies and web beacons is limited. We don’t use them to pull other data from your hard drive or to view data in cookies or other similar data files created by other websites. We will not share the information in these data files or give others access to it—except in accordance with this privacy statement. You can change your cookie preferences by activating the setting on your web browser that allows you to delete or refuse the setting of cookies. If you delete or reject cookies, some pages of the site might not function properly, and the site experience will not be tailored to you from visit to visit. Please consult your web browser’s help documentation for more information about deleting or blocking cookies.

When you visit our website, we may collect, either directly or through third-party service providers, certain technical and navigational information, such as computer browser type, internet protocol (IP) address, pages visited, date and time of your visit, and average time spent on our website. This information may be used, for example, to alert you to software compatibility issues or to resolve technical or service problems. We also analyze this information, with the assistance of our service providers, to improve our web design and functionality, to enhance our ability to serve you, and to tailor our communications to you regarding our products and services.

EC has implemented Google Analytics Demographics and Interest Reports. EC plans to use this feature to collect information used for website analytics, such as user’s geographical location, which browser is being used to access our website, the time of day and how long users stay on the website, along with where the user arrived at our site from. In addition, it will allow EC to familiarize ourselves with the preferences of the client base using our services by showing us how users interact with our site content. Users who wish to opt-out of the Google Analytics Advertising features may do so here.

We and our service providers may use web beacons to determine whether and when you receive and open our e-mails; these beacons may also capture information about the type of device, operating system, e-mail program, and web browser used to view the e-mail and whether you click on any links in the e-mail. This enables us to gauge the effectiveness, relevance, and value of our e-mail communications.
